JOB TITLE: Groundskeeper

SUPERVISOR: Maintenance Supervisor DAILY HOURS: 10, Monday-Thursday

SALARY RANGE: Classified, Level I WEEKLY HOURS: 40

EVALUATION: 90 Day Probation Period/Annual STATUS: Non Exempt/At Will

OVERVIEW

The Nadaburg School District currently has an opening for a Groundskeeper. Fingerprint clearance and background investigation will be required of the successful candidate. Job Goal is to provide students and staff members with a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment. Classified salary schedule, Level 1.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Is physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, and reach.
• Has training or experience in grounds and yard maintenance.
• Is able to assist in keeping the school clean, orderly, and safe.
• Is knowledgeable of simple repair techniques for equipment and materials used in grounds maintenance
• Relates to public, staff members, and students in a positive manner.

Essential Skills and Responsibilities

• To provide students and staff members with a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean school grounds area; to protect against erosion; and to prepare grounds for assemblies and/or recreational activities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to work well with public, staff members and students in a positive manner.
• Informs maintenance of any damages to buildings and equipment and needed repair.
• Prepares, maintains and cares for school grounds, landscaped areas, playgrounds, athletic fields and related items (e.g. storm drains) to provide adequate, attractive and safe areas for assemblies, athletic events and recreational activities.
• Plants various landscaping materials (e.g. lawns, shrubbery, flowers, etc.) for the purpose of keeping the areas attractive and for protection against erosion.
• Experiments with different varieties of lawn and flower seeds to determine those best suited to the soil.
• Maintains irrigation systems and waters lawns, trees and plants.
• Inspects flowers, shrubs, and trees for evidence of insects, fungi, and other pests, and takes necessary action.
• Adjusts and repairs such equipment as lawn mowers, sprinklers, and hedge shears.
• Collects and disposes of leaves and refuse.
• Maintains appearance of outdoor walkways, sidewalks, gravel and parking lots.
• Measures and marks sports fields and paints parking lots as directed.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.35 - $17.50 per hour
